ADAPTIVE TYPING TRAINER · MACOS
Monkeytype measures you. TypeNotch trains you. Hover the notch, type the line it gives you, and hover off when you are done.

01 / THE SCIENCE
Three published findings shaped the engine. Each one changed a decision you can see in the app.
Daily volume
Daily time at the keyboard predicted speed across 1,301 typists. Deliberate practice did not, so TypeNotch lives in the notch where a session costs a hover instead of a tab.
Real words
Random letters halve a skilled typist's speed against real prose, so the engine serves real words in a natural stream rather than isolated key drills.
Varied practice
Skilled learners retain more from varied practice than from narrow repetition, so the blend leans toward your weak spots instead of replacing everything else with them.
What the research does not say
Nobody has tested weakness-weighted word selection against ordinary practice. The design follows the theory. TypeNotch itself has never been studied.

02 / THE LOOP
Ten signals read your typing at once: pace and errors, each measured over key pairs, key trios, word lengths, exact words and finger zones. The blend calibrates itself, so the lens that knows the most about you gets the most say in the next line.
A fumble drops into the pool. The engine draws from that pool when it builds your next line, so the word it hands you carries the pair you just missed. A recency window holds the words you have just seen out of the next few draws, which is why the pair comes back inside a different word rather than the same one twice.
